Swedish Grace 1920's Rosewood Marquetry table with gilt details

A remarkable “Swedish Grace” 1920’s rosewood and marquetry round table. The table features an elaborate yet refined display of craftsmanship with a portrait of a young woman in profile using a variety of wood veneers. The portrait suggest a person from the ancient world, possibly Mesopotamia in style. The table urn shaped column has raised carved details accented with gold leaf. Just below is a plinth which is decorated with flora marquetry. The octagon base is raised on four hand carved feet which have a faux rosewood finish.

Ettore Sottsass, "Ospite" round dining table with three silver plated brass legs. The table and center column leg are veneered in Briar root of the Erica Arborea, or tree heather, a type of flowering shrub that is native to the Mediterranean. This table was designed circa 1980 and produced by Zanotta, and has the company label under the table’s top. The table has been newly refinish and is in very good condition. There is minor silver plating loss at the feet.

Swedish mid-century, "Ring" console table with cerused oak top.

A Swedish mid-century modern console table consisting of two joined metal rings which are wrapped in a fabric cord. Two cross bar legs also wrapped in cord, end with patinated brass feet. A replacement solid cerused oak is the console surface. The table has two discreet custom brackets to mount the table to a wall.

Ferdinand Lundqvist coffee table made in Göteborg, Sweden, circa 1956. Designed exclusively for the luxury liner “Gripsholm” of the Swedish American Line. The rectangular top is in walnut, the frame and carved legs and upper frame in stained beech wood, the sabots are in polished brass. The double arched table stretcher adds an elegant detail.

Carl Bergsten Swedish Grace Art Deco Elm and Mahogany table detailed in pewter.

Swedish Grace, Art Deco dining table (has 4 matching chairs sold separately) by architect Carl Bergsten. Masterfully crafted table is veneered in elm, mahogany and detailed with pewter inlay and carved gilt-wood feet. Table expands but has no leaves. Designed and produced circa late 1920's early 1930's.

Some of Bergsten works include the interiors of the luxury ocean liner M/S Kungsholm and the Liljevalchs Art Museum in Stockholm. Bergsten designed the Swedish Pavilion at The International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts held in Paris, France, from April to October 1925, where the French press coined the term "Swedish Grace".

Yngve Ekström, Scandinavian Modern coffee table made by Westbergs Mobler, Tranås, Sweden circa 1950’s. The table is constructed from solid oak and teak which has been Cerused. The table has a gently rounded triangular top which sits on three leges which are joined with gently curved stretchers. Newly refinished.

Swedish Grace (1920-30) round marquetry table with reclining woman.

Swedish Grace (1920-35) side table lavishly decorated in a variety of exotic wood veneers. The top has a rosewood border which frames a circle of birch in eight sections, each displaying a stylized stem and flower. At the very center is a scene of an elegant woman reclining dressed in clothing of the style of Paul Poiret. The table frame and legs are stained and carved solid birch. The circular lower shelf is finished with two varieties of root wood veneer. Fully restored in excellent condition. Dated on bottom 1933.

Scandinavian Modern round dining table blue glass mosaic top structure in polished steel

A Scandinavian Modern round dining table with cobalt blue glass mosaic top featuring a target motif. The table's center column is supported by four graceful wedge shaped legs. The polished steel frame is most likely nickel plated. There is one spot on the rim with loss to the finish, very small losses along the same edge but overall in very good condition.

Carl Bjørn and P. Törneman enameled Triva coffee table produced by NK (Nordiska Kopaniet), Stockholm circa 1950’s. The all brass frame has been newly polished and lacquered. The surface is enamel on copper and depicts the Bronze Age stone carvings from Tanun in southern Sweden, an UNESCO World Heritage site.
