Swedish Art Deco, Palladium Theatre "comedy" sculpture in copper. Stockholm 1920

A large exterior sculpture from the circa 1918 Palladium theatre in Stockholm, Sweden. Made completely of copper this “comedy” face is enclosed in a stylized Greek Chalcidian helmet worn during the Classical period, c. 450-400 BC. Newly restored the sculpture now sits on a custom iron stand which has been patinated to match the sculpture.

This is one of four “comedy & tragedy” heads which once sat atop the theater’s original marquee no others are know to have survived a 1987 renovation.

Carl Einar Andreas Forseth (1892–1988) "Architect" painting on board.

"Arkitktur" is a mixed media painting on a panel by Swedish artist Carl Einar Andreas Forseth (1892–1988). It depicts a scene with three craftsmen (builders) in an arched structure with a garden in the background. The figure to the left wears a robe and is holding a scroll in his right hand which perhaps are plans for the building. It is believed that this figure is a self-portrait of Forseth. The scene is contained within one of the structures’ arches. Sighed at the top right “Forseth 15”. Original oak frame with gilt edge.

Einar Forseth most important public work are his mosaics in the Golden Hall in Stockholm City Hall which were completed in 1923.
